I was just talking to a friend whose younger brother was arrested on a minor charge.

There's longstanding animosity between kids in the NYCHA building where they reside & another NYCHA residence.

So the cops think it would be funny to drop him off at the other complex.
He wasn't ultimately charged w/ anything, he's not involved in the ongoing stuff between the two residences except that he lives in one, which makes him a target.

He was dropped off in the middle of the complex, where there was only one way out. He had nowhere to hide.
No side exits where he could leave inconspicuously. Plus the cops dropped him off, which sends what sort of message I don't know.

He could have been killed. And the cops must have known this. And it was a joke to them.
Can you imagine them doing this to their own kids? They wouldn't even let them walk near housing projects.

But Black kids - who they presume are in a gang (he's not) because they live there - are disposable.

And if he were killed, would his death even be traced to them?
It would be presented to the public as if he were involved in a gang and that is why he was at the other complex. Maybe, only that my friend and her family would know that this wasn't possible that the truth might come out.

How many children die & we never really understand why?
So many cops and DAs see all of this stuff as a game.

Things like this are truly funny to them.
Of course, plea bargaining is the ultimate game - people's lives are like casino chips.

But that's a whole other thread.
