This. Common for Christians to compare “pacifist Jesus” with “warlord Mohammad” but the political contexts were vastly different. Better to compare the two traditions’ rules of war and how such rules got applied in history.
Obviously I’m still #TeamCatholic but I think this kind of apologetics ends up mischaracterizing Jesus and ironically ends with the kind of spiritualized Christianity we have in American that allows “secular” values to determine how we wage war.
Which ends, as most things do, with American Christians cheering as Freemasons drop atomic bombs on Japanese Catholics.
