Last night I watched as Julian Smith, the government chief whip, rather thespily told Justine Greening: “We are this close to being out of power.” He held up finger and thumb to show how close this was.
Last night I watched as Julian Smith, the government chief whip, rather thespily told Justine Greening: “We are this close to being out of power.” He held up finger and thumb to show how close this was.
Greening appeared unimpressed, shouting back: “It’s your fault for being so rubbish.” Other MPs nearby accused Smith of staging a “panto stunt”, having only asked for Greening’s support when the voting began.
This morning I understand Greening has since had a grovelling apology.
Phew.

A footnote: another Tory MP points out that Smith used to be Greening's PPS when she was a minister. So there is a LOT going on here
