Can people in their 60s stop saying "We'll just take the hit" on Brexit.
YOU WON'T BE THE ONES TAKING THE HIT.
Your careers are either already established or finished.
Some of us are are trying to get started. Some of us will have to support families in Brexit economy!

I've made this very clear time and time again. So please be aware that there are those who are intentionally choosing pretend they don't understand what I mean and what I don't mean.
The hashtag & "quotation marks" show I'm referring to specifically to what someone said on question time.
If I'd said 'Could people with their own popcorn stop stealing mine" that wouldn't mean that everyone with popcorn is stealing mine. (esp. with the hashtag #ThePopcornThief)

Nissan sells across Europe.
70% of the cars made in the Sunderland factory go to other EU countries.
If Brexit makes cross-border trade more expensive, basing its factory here means 70% of its cars face a cost. If it moved to e.g Frankfurt only 30% would.
So, if it becomes more expensive for Nissan to keep its factory here in the long-term, what does that do to the 35,000 people across the North-East whose jobs and families depend on that factory?
It's not just Nissan. Derby's Toyota plant send NINETY PERCENT of its cars to mainland Europe. The maths there is pretty straight forward.
AND they've already got factories on the mainland ready to expand if needed.

I do genuinely appreciate @JeremyCorbyn whipping for the Cooper Amendment. The utter disgraces who defied the whip, I'll address at a later date.
I say this now because I have to be frank with my next tweet. So consider this tweet my spoonful of sugar to help the next on go down.
Who seeks an election by promising to do something (Brexit) they know most of their voters don't want?
Labour Brexit simply gives up our say.
So either use the seats you have for PV or "We've negotiated a deal but people don't like it so we seek a mandate to put it to the people"
Campaigning against your own voters' wishes is just not smart politics.
And no more "But he must be careful of his leave voting constituencies". Those are areas like Sunderland which would be worst hit by Brexit. Go there! Ask them what they really need!

Two referendums created Scottish Parliament: 1️⃣ Yes-No? 2️⃣Tax powers Yes-No? No wonder MPs don't know what Brexit we want!

As a Scot he loves England but the way the Tories have treated Scotland, promising stability in 2014, then showing utter contempt during Brexit...

He gave me a proper education on Scottish politics. That's why I love getting insights from people across the country. Because I know the areas where I know nothing. (I realise now that this makes him my Ygritte, but I stand by my words😅)
One thing I wasn't surprised at but needed confirmed...
Scotland has many Sunderlands waiting to happen. Areas which saw their coal/steel industries close as we became a services economy but got left out of our services industry. But they knew to blame Westminster, not Brussels.

Media coverage to date focused on the structure of this single @IrelandsFuture event rather than the reasons for it taking place. In more than 20yrs covering politics, I can't recall many, if any bigger political gatherings outside party conferences/ard fheiseanna.
The loudest applause so far were for 'we didn't vote for #Brexit', applause against the bomb in Derry, and applause in support of the Principle of Consent (respecting majority view in NI/North).
These debates on the future have to take place across all communities and between them. Demographic change, the failure of Stormont & #Brexit mean some change is inevitable. We all need to play a part in that discussion and find a way to protect everyone's rights and identities.

A constant refrain from my fellow remainers is name be a #Brexit benefit many devote immense energy writing detailed explanations of trade tarrifs or how the EU works. I am grateful to them as I have learned a lot from them yet we all wonder why it makes so little difference
It seems to me that a better question to leavers is what are you getting out of #Brexit why do you support it in the face of so much evidence that its a terrible idea and I would like to suggest the answer lies in the realms of feeling
We have all seen that #Brexit licenses all kinds of opinions that 1l0 years ago would have been unacceptable but more than that it licences BEHAVIOURS that usually are unacceptable and thus gives many adherents a immense pleasure

Some Labour types have continually tried to tie Brexit to Austerity as an excuse for Labour's Brexit appeasement - "we must respect the causes"
This, frankly, is nonsense
2) If you look at the actual demographics of the vote, the austerity argument doesn't stack up.
There are exceptions of course however it's fairly clear austerity didn't cause Brexit because those who *perceived they were most at risk* voted Remain
3) Car workers in well paid jobs didn't vote Leave "because they had nothing to lose", they voted Leave because they believed (wrongly) they were safe

Council Tenants and those who'd paid off their mortgages voted Leave
Private Renters & Mortgage holders voted Remain

People keep saying we should have a vote on the #Brexit "final deal".

I don't think we should wait. Why not?

Two reasons-

1/ We already know there is NO version of #Brexit that wouldn't do us all (apart from the very rich) real damage. If we #RemainInTheEU, we can get on with
repairing the damage that #Brexit has already done, which is considerable, and carry on with improving things for all Europeans.

2/ I suspect May's plan is to run us out of time, so we crash out with no deal, and hence no time to vote on it. All her delaying tactics have been
aimed at that result, including trying to extend MP's extremely long holidays, to prevent them from stopping her crazy game.

I think we can't get Parliament recalled, as the usual way to do that would need the Government to ask the Speaker, and May won't allow that.
