Last night I had an exchange with @MichaelRCaputo in which I mistakenly believed he went after my wife's medical condition.

It turned out he didn't mean to, the GIF he used of an overweight Simpsons character was a coincidence. He wrote me a heartfelt apology this morning.
Anyway: he and I obviously see eye to eye on very little, but I can't in good conscience let him take the blame for saying something he didn't actually say. So I really appreciate his apology, and if you look back through what was said last night on my TL, don't be hard on him.

A place to start would be if pro-lifers stopped lying.

No one advocates killing viable fetuses in the 3rd trimester, let alone neonates. If the mother's health is threatened but the fetus is viable, labor is induced early & drs try to save both. The VA bill doesn't change that.
The gorier methods of abortion in the 3rd trimester that pro-lifers like @AriFleischer are so horrified by, where chemicals are injected to dissolve fetal bones and it's forcibly evacuated, are only used when the woman has already miscarried, or there's a lethal birth defect.
There are already fed laws that make these forms of abortion illegal on viable fetuses. @AriFleischer knows that — he was WH Press Secretary when the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act passed.

Even before that law, IDX was used in just 0.17% of abortions and never on viable fetuses.

Billionaires are not automatically bad people.

But a single person having that much money is inherently too much power for even a good person to have. The very act of having so much money that nothing has a cost, is an ethical problem.
The reason billionairism breaks capitalism is that capitalism is based on the ability of ppl to lose as well as win. Billionaires have so many assets, and therefore returns, it's basically impossible for them to lose even if they make bad decisions for themselves or the economy.
If you or I behaved as Elon Musk or Donald Trump did with their money, scaled down to our wealth level, we'd be bankrupt in a year. They're hopelessly incompetent.

But they *literally can't lose*, because their capital appreciates faster than they can liquidate and spend it.

He's essentially just a long-lost Koch brother who really sucks at it.
To put this in perspective, Schultz's earned income salary is less than $900,000 — he makes most of his income from stock options. www1.salary.com/Howard-Schultz…

So @AOC's 70% top rate wouldn't even apply to him!
But no, the mere idea of some rich people not keeping all their money is so offensive to Schultz that he is throwing a hissy fit on national TV and planning a grand vanity campaign to sabotage the Democratic Party.

I'm starting to think we should abolish billionaires altogether.
