New preprint! In a 4-year longitudinal study of adults 20-55, we looked at rank-order stability and mean-level change of values and related constructs. In press at J of Personality with Amber Thalmayer, @G_Saucier, @flourneuro, @CostelloCK and myself [1/3] psyarxiv.com/w7rf4/
We looked at individualism and collectivism, unmitigated self-interest, materialism, financial aspirations, and mature values. Over time they were almost as stable as Big Five traits, with 1-year rank-order stabilities in the .55 - .80 range [2/3]
Mean-level change showed increases in collectivism and mature values, decreases in materialism, unmitigated self-interest, and vertical individualism. Patterns are consistent with ongoing cultural socialization toward more inclusive value priorities [3/3]
