Ah, look. I almost thought something amiss when my post neared 2 weeks old, and one of you didn't show up. But look, here you are to fix that. With shitty spelling. 🙄
This is *literally* something women in STEM deal with *every time* we post an achievement online. *Every. Single. F*cking. Time.* there's a man out there, waiting to challenge how "smart" we are. Because we're women. Literally BECAUSE. WE. ARE. WOMEN.
There are *literally* men on the internet *looking for posts from women* so they can try to bring them down. SITTING, AND LOOKING FOR POSTS. Petty.
So, here's some Tuesday Wisdom for ya: don't be that guy waiting to take down a woman on the internet.

Professors: the way you talk to your students matters. By telling your class you expect they learned something prior to taking your class, you *literally* create a learning block that will prevent them from asking important questions from fear of embarrassment. DO NOT DO THIS.
The moment your students feel embarrassed to ask questions because *you* made them feel they should already know something they were not taught, or were not taught well, or even could not grasp at the time for whatever reason, you have failed them as a professor.
Of course, teaching is a learning process. Everyone makes mistakes; correcting them is what matters. Read student evaluations. If a number of students say similar things, pay attention. See where they feel intimidated, what they would like to see more of. And adjust.

10 months ago, I brought these two little tinisymmetric particle hamsters into my life. They were 2 months old. Since then, they've stolen my heart (and yours I'm sure) with little physics demos and acting as hamsteroombas, like in this video. Happy birthday, dark matter sisters!

Hi friends, please note that in photos I tweet that I don't take myself, you *should* see, in the lower corner, an "ALT" symbol; this is because @buffer allows me to put in alternative text. Here is where I cite photographers/website, which you can see if you click on the pic
I did not know that this only worked on the Twitter app until I tried checking Twitter via web. There, you don't get the text I put in when you click the photo. This makes me sad bc I thought this worked everywhere using @buffer. But it does not.
It matters to me because citing people's work is important. Please accept my apologies for not checking to make sure this worked outside the app as well!

The woman tried to squeeze herself inside. Ko le werk. The tout outside who was trying to shut the door couldn’t.
That’s how the fellow sitting closest to the lady said,

I've been writing a Middle-earth filled with queer people, brown people, and women with @thelionmachine for a decade. And it's all in-line with the medieval world Tolkien drew upon.

We're also academics who've written on Tolkien studies, so yes, we know what we're talking about.
Gondor should be full of brown people. The Númenoreans were essentially a blend of Egyptian and ancient Israelite people. They have a spirituality based on the sacredness of death as a mercy and a gift. Boromir should look more like Oded Fehr.
