So, who IS profiting from detaining kids?
--Comprehensive Health Services got a $600,000 tax break.

Their website lists one of their addresses as: 8600 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral, FL 32920. A Brevard County property search says it's owned by Astronaut Properties.

Astronaut Properties is owned by Robert Baugher and Deborah Knight.

Let's start with Robert Baugher. Who is he? One of the guys who founded Ron Jon Surf Shop, apparently. He's not there anymore, though it sounds like he made a lot of money there. Wonder if he won the case? In any case, he left the company, so Ron Jon is irrelevant.

Here we go.

Baugher Hotel group? Owns the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral, Sheraton Four Points in Cocoa Beach, and the Cocoa Beach Suites.

So, who's profiting off detaining children? Not just Comprehensive Health Services. One step removed, obviously, is the people renting to them. I might write a letter to them at 2210 S Atlantic Ave Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 and tell them to stop renting to this company.

Because here's the thing. It's easy to get mad at and start a giant social media backlash toward a famous company because they made an ad that was sexist or racist, because that harm is very visible. Meanwhile, companies you've never heard of profit off actual murder.

They're not out there in the public eye like big brands. They're owned by 1%ers who have a bazillion small companies that exist to own office buildings. Those companies don't have websites. The people who own them often aren't on social media.

While some social media manager at Nike probably paid $40k a year is fielding thousands of angry emails because people didn't like an ad, these millionaires and billionaires are facing zero public opprobrium for profiting off children in cages.

So anyway, I'm going to write a letter to Astronaut Properties, LLC at 2210 S Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 and tell them to stop renting to Comprehensive Health Services and profiting from detaining children.

And as long as he's renting to companies profiting off detaining children, I will tell my Florida-visiting friends not to stay at any of the hotels owned by Robert Baugher.

Don't let them operate in safe obscurity. Make them too radioactive to rent to. Make it hard for them to find space to operate out of.

It's relatively easy, by the way, to find out who owns the building they operate out of. 1) Get the address of a company (usually on their website). 2) Enter the address here to find out what county it's in: mapdevelopers.com/what-county-am…

3) Search for "____ county property records." That will usually get you a government site for that county that lets you input an address and find out who owns the property.

4) Once you've found out who owns the property (almost always a company), go to Corporation Wiki to find out who owns that company, what else they own, etc. corporationwiki.com

Maybe it doesn't do any good. But I've seen enough rich old people who've never dealt with the internet panic when the internet finds them and yells at them to know that it's at least going to result in uncomfortable phone calls with the sleazy companies they rent to.

And discomfort for millionaires+ who are profiting off detaining children isn't ENOUGH of a consequence, but we gotta start somewhere, and right now they're sitting there profiting in smug secrecy.
