Today in What Game Companies Actually Think About Women & Minorities: Take Two/2K claims to want to form new, diverse studio, hires white dude to do that. gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-…
Oh, btw? The white man who's going to form this new, diverse studio that's welcoming to women and minorities thinks y'all are just making up how bad gamers' misogyny and toxicity are. gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-…
Like, hi there, game studios. When you're starting a new studio, you know how you demonstrate that you're actually serious about creating a studio that actually recognizes and values the talent of women/minorities? Put. One. In. Charge.
But let's say that, as a thought exercise, in building your diverse & welcoming studio, for some reason you can't find a woman and/or POC to put in charge. The least you can do is hire a white man who doesn't flippantly write off one of their main concerns w/ industry.
It never ceases to amaze me how often the bar for game companies to do the right thing, morally, optically, financially, AND pragmatically, is on the floor and they still can't clear it.
