Yesterday my three year old son said “I’m gonna pee on you” and we laughed him off like nah don’t do that. Then he aimed and hit me square in the shoulder.

And he’ll do it again because let me tell you, I laughed so hard I nearly passed out.

I’m only human. It was hilarious.
Afterward kid goes “I told you I’d pee on you” and I was like “he’s not wrong.”

Today he threatened to do it to Bethany and she goes “you better not; I’m not your father, I won’t laugh.”

It was objectively funny tho. Like a gangster tyke. Such a boss.
Anyhoo as someone just said in my replies, one hard part of parenting is that a lot of the stuff they really shouldn’t do is also hilarious

1. The position that CNN was wrong to end Marc Lamont Hill’s contributorship over his anti-Semitism is perfectly legitimate and defensible—and is the position I tend to take on such controversies, very much including anti-Israel figures. But I disagree this time. I’ll explain why
2. There are two reasons. The first is the nature of the job. If MLH were, idk, an exec at a construction company or something, firing him over his views would be insane and cruel. But that’s not the case here—and indeed he’s not in danger of losing his day job.
3. CNN gig is the network bringing him on occasionally to opine on current affairs. His views on current affairs are riddled w/overt bigotry. I also thought Fox was right to banish its guest who made anti-Semitic comments about Soros. No reason to bring the guy back on air. None.

1. Lodging a complaint with the Complaints Commission of the Media Council is not excessive. It is following due process in an instance where a journalist and publication not only violated the code of conduct of journalism, but also violated the rights of Kenyans.
In this specific case, the journalist was dismissive when asked to take corrective measures. It is important to note that the complaint is not just about the photographs in her article - it also about her conduct when her error was pointed out to her and her and New York Times

Most of the criticism about the New York Times podcast is “WE didn’t miss the threat, YOU did.” Which isn’t quite right.

The NYT didn’t miss it. They’re lying. They saw it all along, and they stoked it to generate profit.

They saw it when they used Charlottesville as a cheap way to dunk on Trump. They saw it when they gave Tony Hovater a loving profile. They saw it when they decided that Eli Mosley did the one thing they couldn’t bear: disrespected military honor.
The New York Times didn’t miss shit. They saw it coming just like we did. They chose to turn it into money, and now they want to play, “who, me??!”

The free speech crisis is a result of the indeterminate nature of the internet itself.
Historically, American law has allowed for total freedom of written texts while legal censorship of broadcasted speech has been tolerated since the earliest radio broadcasts. Point the first.
In Europe, banning of books and pamphlets by royal decree (like John Milton's during the Restoration) was done specifically as a political act to limit what can and cannot be said about certain subjects. This limit of political speech for the common good manifests itself today

The one clear conclusion in the fallout from the Chozick book? There has been no reckoning at the #NewYorkTimes. No newsroom autopsy. No blue ribbon commission. No inquiry from the publisher, as in Blair and WMD. Until that happens, it's all bizarre anti-journalistic reaction.
And as I've argued before, when you have reporters on Twitter essentially filling in as the voices of the institution? That's a recipe for pure disaster. First off, they're Godawful at it. Just terrible. Secondly, it's unfair. Why don't the publishers stand up and defend the NYT?
Today, you have the opinion page editors trying to "steer" the direction of the Chozick fallout with three anti-Clinton letters. So clumsy and obvious! When the defense of a *damned newspaper* is "the candidate was really to blame" then journalism has failed completely. #NYT
