It’s truly astounding that these companies thought that pocketing the tips customers intended for workers would just get the a-okay from everyone, once their scheme was revealed. So dark. Yet another stain on that unicorn culture of max capture, max extraction.
Imagine sitting around the executive table and someone suggests “what if we just kept tips for ourselves but told everyone that workers were getting them?”, and then everyone else just goes “great idea!!” 🦄☠️
Instacart has raised $2 billion in vulture capital. Yet they still need to steal tips from workers to make it work? The true crime here though is WHERE ARE LEGISLATORS? If billion-dollar companies can rob delivery workers of tips with impunity, something is clearly broken.
