The reason the Corbyn letter is getting a positive response from the EU is because it is defined by things it believes the EU would grant.
This is the major difference between it and previous Labour or Tory offers. It is shaped by consideration of the negotiating partner's red lines, not just our own.
The two really difficult outstanding areas are the extent of the 'say' on trade deals in the customs union (I would suggest not very much, but enough to save face) and the free movement policy.
I think Starmer was clear on that. Would be reassuring to hear Corbyn say the same.
But then, I call it a Corbyn letter - the truth is that letter has Starmer all over it. It's his work.
