Oh cool, so today the culture war is about Winston Churchill.
It's not really about Churchill of course, anymore than Brexit is about the EU, or Gillette adverts are about gender relations. It's just the wrapping paper they put around their dreary fucking daily culture war bullshit.
Maybe - just putting this out there, fucking batshit I know - Churchill is neither entirely GOOD or BAD.
In the bad column: Home secretary during Tonypandy. Promotion of chemical weapons in Iraq. General day-to-day military strategy judgement.
In the good column: being the right person in the right place at the right time when it was most important. Generally humane instincts on day-to-day conduct of WW2.
There's more in either column of course.
You can hold both those thoughts in your head at the same time. Because life is complicated.
They're trying to turn us all into morons, who can only think one thought at a time. A world in black and white.
The greatest act of rebellion you can make against this political culture is to keep making judgements on a case-by-case basis. Fuck 'em and their simple-minded crusades.
