Spiritual gurus say everyone has a third eye and that this eye gives us the ability to see into the unknown, to hear in complete silence, and to feel auras & entities unseen. Many of us are unaware of this, but for some, it is a burden instead of a gift.

Some people are born with their third eye wide open, these individuals tend to choose paths that allow them to harness this gift for divinations, energy healings & channeling the passed on.This phenomenon is found in all religions but labeled differently meaning; soul awakening.
In African culture, these people are said to have an ancestral calling because they can easily bridge the world of the living & that of our forefathers. For those who are born with their third eye half opened, they usually have higher intuition than an avarage person...
These are people you'd hear saying " my spirit doesn't sit right with this" Such people can sometimes detect danger before it comes. They also have the ability to dream about events that later on come true & experience glimpses of the future otherwise know as dejavu.
We then have those who have their third eye completely shut. These are people who are non believers of anything that is unseen. They don't believe because they don't FEEL. Their scepticism is not acquired, but spiritually genetic,in a way.
Zanele Mthembu was one of the people born with their third eye wide open. She had always known there was something special about her, even from an early age. Her family wasn't aware of it, but she could feel it deep in her gut that she wasn't an ordinary human being.
At some point in her lifr, she convinced herself it was because of all the Harry Porter series she was obsessed with that made her think she was a secret wizard too.Her mom would tell her Harry Porter was satanic & so she had her Harry Porter Fanatic card revoked.
She then identified herself with the fairies, blame this on Winx Club. Again, her sisters made her believe fairies are fictional creatures. Despite this, no matter what she did in life, she'd always gravitate towards believing in a universe far greater than the one we live in
Growing up, she discovered just how messed up the world we live in is. She discoverd there were more than 4000 religions in the world and that each one of them claimed the knew God, each one of them disputed against the teachings of the other & vice versa.
Her family were hardcore christians who despised anything with an African traditions tag on it.She also ended up bieng that way. One day,her father who was a policeman & a deacon at her church was shot while on duty.
When her mother received the call to come to the hospital, Zanele already knew her father was no more, she could feel it in her bones. When her mother asked if she wanted to go to the hospital with them, she said no. Her spirit was just restless.
Her mom & 2 sisters rushed to the hospital leaving the 17 year old Zanele behind. They knew just how much she hated hospitals. They used to joke about Zanele pretending to be taking other kid's sicknesses when she went to the clinic as a child.
If she was near a child with pneumonia, she'd start shivering too,if a child had a broken knee, she'd limp too."It was the funniest & cutest ever!" Her mom would say.She wasn't surprised at all, when her mother came back wailing with arms on her head & tears pouring allover her face
This confirmed the subconscious uneasiness that told her uMvelase, her father, was no more. She'd never see him nor speak to him again. Although she longed to talk to him, she knew it was against her beliefs. He was dead. Unresponsive. History!
weeks after the funeral,Zanele started dreaming a lot about her father. He would always be in the dark, sad & sometimes crying out that he was lonely.Zanele never told anyone about this, she heard Oprah saying the sudden death of a family member can trigger such dreams....
Apparently, this was how her emotional self was grieving & healing. The dreams eventually stopped, but things became worse. She'd now hear whitsling while in class, although she was always able to endure them, sometimes she'd ask for permission to leave.
Her teachers would let her leave school when she wanted to because they knew she had just lost her father, whom was also in the school governing body committee. Besides, she was already a teacher's pet because of her academic achievements.
She went on the net & diagnosed herself with Tinnitus, defined as a constant noise originating in the ear rather than in the environment. The noise heard by people with tinnitus may be a buzzing, ringing, roaring, whistling,or hissing sound and is often associated with hearing loss.
This my friend, is another reason why western medicine can't diagnose & treat everything. Zanele wasn't experiencing tinnitus in its true context, what she was hearing were sounds from the other realm, conversations between her ancestors.
Life was never the same after that, but her mother, bieng the imbokodo that she was, started a driving school business with their father's insurance money &that's how they survived. When Zanele went to university, she started to shed off her Christian beliefs & ventured into science
Science made more sense to her. Science was tangible &objective, unlike religion, she didn't have to make herself believe in what she didnt see. That was too much of a task for her.All her life she had been taught not to rely on her own intuition &but on that of her church leaders
Studying psychology also played a part in her throwing away religion. Psychology's relationship with religion is based on what the mind percieves to be right & just. Any religion that is not harmful to the physical, emotional & mental well being of a person, is considered good.
This didn't satisfy Zanele, she wanted more accuracy, surely not all religions serve the same God. To her,God became a mental image that people made up in order to have something to hope to,someone to blame when things go wrong &a place of comfort to those who are scared of death.
This is when she lost herself. She didn't believe in God & she didn't believe in life after death. Her third eye was shut. Now there is something you should know about people who's third eyes are open, once they resist the path thats chosen for them, things are bound to go wrong.
You see, people like Zanele need to constantly tap into their inner self & have consistency in practicing what they believe to have given them this kind of enlightenment. Why do y'all think people who have an ancestral calling get sick when they refuse to Twasa? Think about it...
11 December 2015.This is the date on Zanele's Mom's tombstone. Zanele was back home after completing her November exams when things turned out for the worst. She was to help her mother with the Driving school business by dealing with the finances &booking of dates for enrollers
Her mother was teaching enrollers how to drive at the local sports ground. At 16:34, Zanele got ready to lock up but her mother wasn't back yet.She usually waits for her to come back, then they would drive home together. On this day she was late....
she usually comes back at 15:30 and they lock up around 16:00.Zanele then decided to call her to find out where she was. Her mother picked up & said she was on her way. She had stopped by the bank to make some deposits before the weekend.
Zanele could hear that she driving when she called her. Her mother was a vigilant driver so she wasn't worried about her crashing into other cars & causing an accident. It was now 17:10 & her mother was still not there. She was asking herself what was taking her so long....
She was now worried & even tried calling her countless times but it would just go straight to voicemail. She suddenly felt nauseous, she figured it was because she had been standing for an hour. She then decided to sit down on the red stoep to their offices & regain her strength.
She keeps checking the time while looking around, expecting a white bakkie to come her way.17:18,shes still not here. Why is she feeling hot?she's even sweating. She takes off the grey hoodie she's wearing, leaving her with the black vest she was showcaseing her cleavage with all day
Her Stomach turns. She's becoming more and more sick as she waits for her mother. She's finding it hard to breathe. Its feels like there's someone sitting on her shoulders, she can't help but bend to face the ground.
"These are symptoms of a panic attack" she tells herself..
"Just breathe...breathe Zanele..breathe" she's trying to calm herself down by breathing in her nose & breathing out her mouth. Its not working, instead she feels like someone is crushing her to the ground while suffocating her.
While in that distress, she hears a loud BAM! In her ears & she miraculously gains the strength to stand up. The loud sound left a ringing sound in her ears, "Tinnitus.." She calms herself. She looks on her phone again, 17:30, something is wrong. She can feel it.
It then occurred to her that the loud BAM! Sound she heard sounded like a gunshot, and she doesn't like anything that has to do with guns, considering how her father died. She calls her mother again...voicemail.
She decides to a catch taxi & go wait for her at home.
She picked up her backpack & hoodie & crossed the street. The street lights are already on, there are people rushing up & down, some probably have night shifts to go to. She takes left on the corner & passes Jet store. The whistling in her eyes begins. Its not too loud though..
She takes right at corner then sees a crowd of people in shock, gathering from the remarks they're making. Some are shouting "sheeembe!!"
While others are on some
"aw nkosyami".There are two police vans already at the scene,It probably has to do with the gunshot she heard earlier
She wanted to go to the scene, but didn't go because of how she always seems to take in people's sicknesses & injuries on to her own body. She had long made peace with how sensitive her mind was. Because of this, She'll just ignore & continue to walk straight.
She got to the taxi rank, there's a long line & she's the last one standing. One taxi gets full, another comes in. The second load leaves. While waiting for the third taxi to come, she finds herself eavesdropping on the two women ahead of her.
They're talking about the shooting that went down next to the post office. That's where Zanele saw the crowd. She got close to the one ahead of her so she could hear clearly because the whistling in her was getting louder by the minute, she also started feeling dehydrated..
"....And then I saw the two man who were trying to steal the big black car that was parked there. The lady that was shot was just coming out of her car. Maybe they thought she was going to scream & ruin their chance of taking that car" The woman in blue construction overalls said
Shem, and I know that lady you know. She owns that driving school behind Chicken licken." the one in a nurse's uniform said. Zanele almost hit the ground when she heard this. The whistling in her ears stopped & She immediately left the line & went running to the scene in tears.
As she's running towards the scene she sees the ambulance flicking its red lights as though it was calling on her to run faster. She can feel her mom is gone. She knows it!
she doesn't remember where she dropped her backpack & hoodie but when she got to the scene, they were gone.
She pushed her way into the crowd & saw a lot of blood on the tar road where the woman she's suspecting to be her mother was. The ambulance almost left without Zanele, they had already taken in the body.
"That's my mother! Open up!"she's banging on the ambulance door..
A colored paramedic opens the door and Zanele throws herself inside without even waiting for an invite to come me in. She's sobbing as she's doing all of this. The whistling immediately came back when she entered the ambulance. This time its so loud she can't take it.
The paramedics are a bit shocked at how loud Zanele is screaming now. They don't know that she's tearing up the veil between the land of the leaving & that of the dead. Thats when she heard a thousand whispers all talking at the same time. She's convinced she's going mad.
Her eye sight is diminishing , everything becomes blurry. She's blinking more than she's supposed to. The whispers are becoming more clearer. The paramedic is just staring as her, he doesn't know whay to do.
"You left her behind, don't leave her behind" the whisper say.
She opens her eyes to check if its really the whispers who are saying this. When she opened her eyes she saw two women who are wrinkled unlike anything she's ever seen. They are sitting right next to her mother's body.
"You left her behind.." The one in a red isicholo says.
She couldn't believe her eyes, she had so many questions but she couldn't choose one to ask. The women disappeared when Zanele took her eyes off them for a minute to ask the Paramedic if he was seeing them too.
"You're in shock, its understandable" the paramedic responded to her
Her mother's funeral was the saddest day of her life. For days she hadn't had anything to eat, she was so angry at how both her parents died. Her only problem was that she didn't know who to be angry at since she didn't believe in God nor ancestors. So who was she angry at?
And the elderly women she saw in the ambulance, who were they & what did they mean by saying she had left her mother at the scene where she died? She took out her phone & Googled her way to a reasonable answer. For once in a long time she started to believe in lie after death.
I believe thats when her third eye reopened again. A week after the funeral, she started dreaming about her mother in darkness & she was crying out to be reunited with her family. Again, she kept these dreams & what happened in the ambulance to herself.
January 2016, she had to go back to university but she ended up coming back home before easter holidays. At night the whispers would come back & say the same thing over and over again. She had to go fetch her mother & father where they died. Thats what the old grannies said.
Although she believed these were her ancestors/ great great grandmothers, according to what she found online, she ignored it because she was too afraid to go to a healer or a prophet as she was advised in an article she read. Again, she fell ill, she couldn't even walk.
Her sisters than fetched her & took her to the hospital where she was declared physically healthy. She then went to live with her elder sister, Nwabisa. One afternoon she fell into a deep sleep & dreamt herself in the presence of thousands if not millions of Nguni people.
Surprisingly, she wasn't intimidated by them, even though it looked like the thousands of people were expecting her visit. She found her self calling out her clan names even though no one had ever taught them to her...she felt immense serenity & security.
The two grannies she usually saw came forward & gave her a bag made of black & white goat skin, decorated in what looks like eagle furthers. She opened the bag & found divination stones & bones that she to the ground & saw the tragic manner in which her sisters would die...
They were all going to die by being shot at. The peace & calmness she felt disappeared along with the thousands of people that were surrounding her. It was now her & the two grannies who also looked sad & troubled. The grannies explained to her what she later on explained to me...
If someone in the family dies by use of a weapon,or in a war, all the people from that family must be cleansed so they don't die in that same way. They explained that such deaths collects negative energy around everyone related to the person who died & cleansing must be done...
They also told her that they are placing upon her, the responsibility to fetch her parent's spirits from where they died. After that she'd have to perform a ritual to pardon her parent's for dishonoring their ancestors while they were still alive.only then would they be at peace.
The two grannies were still speaking when Nwabisa shook the living out of her. Her sister says she was screaming " Owavel’eNyandeni yemikhonto yakwaMabaso,
Mvelase kaGuda,
Ongawadl’amathibani,Mnisi wemvula ilanga libalele" & these are their clan names. Which is why she was shook.
Zanele attempted walking right after that dream & her illness had left her. She could walk again! In that same afternoon they asked local people for a prophet/sangoma who'd help them with everything she was told in her dream. The rituals were done as instructed by her ancestors.
She went back to university year 2017, because after performing her parent's rituals, she went for sangoma initiation/intwaso. She's now a practicing psychologist & traditional healer. She's also a good friend of mine.

The end.
