1/ Normally don’t promote movies but will this one: its a documentary about the 501st Battalion, The international community of Star Wars costume players, and the amazing work they do to support children with cancer: amazon.com/Heroes-Empire-…
2/ When my son Elijah was sick with DIPG (the rarest, deadliest childhood brain cancer), members of the 501st Battalion in the DC area (none of whom I had ever met) took an entire day and came to his school to celebrate him after being contacted by the parent of a school friend.
3/ When he died, members of the 501st attended my son’s funeral and served as an honor guard. It was the first time some of his classmates - still grieving - had laughed or smiled in weeks.
4/ Many of the members of the 501st have been affected by cancer, and they take seriously this side of what they do. They are an extraordinary community, Star Wars geeks and caregivers in the best sense of both words. @501stLegion #defeatDIPG
