You ever heard of Fortnite? Of course not. "Twitter chest-pounding alphas" have no idea what this huge cultural trend was. Now, with that out of the way...

Let's talk money.

[Copywriters/marketers/freelancers will definitely appreciate this insight.]
Fortnite was a game made to capitalize on a new category within the gaming community. That category was the "Battle Royale." In short...

It's 100 people thrown onto an island and last man standing wins.

Cool, right?

Well, this little game was released for free...
And the way they made money was by selling digital items for that game.

"Boring!"

Yeah, well these guys made over $3 Billion in profit!

That's crazy to think about considering all they really sold was digital currency for their digital items. But check this out...
There's a new battle royale game on the scene called "Apex Legends."

And this game, in my opinion, is going to DOMINATE everyone.

I'll show you why but first, look at this headline:

"Apex Legends breaks Fortnite record with 10 million players in just 72 hours"

Like I said, it's going to dominate the scene

And this kind of thing doesn't happen by accident either.

[Here's where you're really gonna want to pay close attention because this can apply for you and your biz...]
"So, how did they make this happen?"

First off, they did many things right but if I can boil it down to ONE thing you can apply, it's that they were super intimate with their audience. For example...

Many games in this space were cash-grabs. They were unfinished products.
They would be sold as unfinished with the promise of features being added on.

They never were.

People got sick of it.

Apex didn't do that. Instead, they took TWO years to develop this QUIETLY. And it shows, the game runs smooth. A whole bunch of details that POP.
Not just aesthetically. But quality of life, such as looking down the scope of a sniper and having the rangefinder actually measure out the distance.

"What?! That's cool AF."

Yeah, the game itself is different from most BR games. They have their own spin.
They even made it so communicating through voice chat isn't needed because the characters perform vivid call-outs for your teammates.

I could go on and on but the point is, they took the time to create a DREAM product. A product that answered EVERY desire of their market.
But it gets even better...

You see, they went the quiet route.

No hype.

Instead, they used the biggest battle royale influencers of the gaming circle.

[See what I mean by knowing their market in and out?]

Of course, they paid them but they paid them for only ONE day...
It was an all-in move that would either make em or break em.

Because if they hated it, they were fucked!

But

Since they learned their market so inside-out, they knew that the influencers had similar dreams, desires, complaints as most of the market did.

And as a result...
They loved it!

And well, you saw the result of this earlier.

This game is also free-to-play. Meaning anyone can get it...
And if we go one step further...

Once they put something up for sale, holy shit.

This is what it means to know your marketplace. The markets reward those who know them and give them what they have been craving for...
I know earlier I said my favorite part was X, but this is also my favorite part.

Now that they have a released a diamond in this space, the market will not accept BULLSHIT from others. Those "half-finished" games, nah dawg.

That will not fly anymore...
Like I said earlier, their success really came down to one thing

"Know your market inside-out and give them what they want."

And if you operate & execute on this same principle
