They said slavery, school segregation and Jim Crow in general were STATE actions requiring LOCAL activism and change too. Doesn’t mean the emancipation proclamation, Brown v. Board and the CRA/VRA weren’t eventually *required* at the federal level to break the cycle with teeth.
@JBurrel47549198 Most of the announced candidates thus far are US Senators/House Reps, they’re all in prime position to draw attention to these issues and fight systemic oppression with policy solutions. If they can’t meet the challenge at this level they aren’t ready 4 primetime
@JBurrel47549198 These conditions aren’t just local issues when the electoral college dictates that their local fucked up politics must bleed over into the national psyche every presidential election. Nothing is just local anymore & the establishment GOP clearly understands this.
