There are so many reasons Cindy Hyde-Smith is wrong for Mississippi.

One of the reasons that just came to light is her long history of racism, starting with attending a segregationist high school to sending her daughter to a similar one as well. #SaturdayMorning
Hyde-Smith attended a segregationist academy specifically designed to avoid Brown v. Board of Ed racial integration.

Not only that, but she also sent her daughter to a similar academy.

This story is stunning.

Let's talk about this letter signed by the 15 Democrats-elect who say they won't vote for Pelosi. (McAdams signed but his race isn't called yet.) 1/ #mondaymotivation #teampelosi
That's 15 out of at least 233 Democrats who will vote for Speaker in January. (3 seats are still too close to call.) That leaves 218 Dems, which is how many she needs to be confirmed.
But "not voting for Nancy Pelosi" and "voting against Nancy Pelosi" are two different things. 2/
Right now, there is no one challenging Pelosi, so it's hard to say who these Dems will be voting *for* if they aren't backing her, but let's back up a minute.

If a few of the people who say they aren't voting for Pelosi vote "present", those votes don't count for anyone. 3/

Hyde-Smith lost Warren County in the first round, and trails Espy there now. But Wicker carried it earlier this month when he won y 20 points. Lucky for her, she doesn't need to carry it. Though she should want to.
Tidbit: Cindy Hyde-Smith is currently at 63.8% in Lawrence County, just under Roger Wicker (65.3%). #MSSen

One thing most black Mississippians tell me about Cindy Hide-Smith is that she the personification of white Mississippi.

Most white folks here share her views is what I’m told.

They can’t be negotiated with. You have to defeat them—starting at the voting booth.
There is great hope that Mississippi can be won over from the GOP, but this hope that white folks will suddenly see the errors of their ways is not a sentiment black folks I talk to share.
As reporters, we really have to be honest about white folks’ racism. Black folks believe they can win Mississippi, but they don’t expect too many white folks to join them.

That’s the reality I’m hearing.
