There's been a lot of talk about the UK organization Mermaids. But the US equivalent is Gender Spectrum, which if anything has even more influence on policy in the US (including conferences, school policy, and more). Zero coverage of this org outside our website (so far).
In this children's book "Stacey's not a girl," the narrator (a "natal" girl) talks about hating dresses and ... barrettes! This is just a variation on the Barbie/GI Joe theme pushed by Mermaids.

Most of our followers are familiar with the "barrettes" lecture by Diane Ehrensaft, a member of the Gender Spectrum board of directors.

Ehrensaft was asked by a conference attendee how a preverbal child might indicate they're transgender. Eschewing barrettes (for a baby girl) or making a dress out of a onesie (for a baby boy) can be telltale signs, she says.

The "nonbinary" trope is becoming more and more common with gender docs and psychologists, as well as organizations like Gender Spectrum, which has plenty of material on its slick website and YouTube channel.
Gender dysphoria is no longer a requirement for cutting-edge identity medicine doctors. "Personal comfort" for nonbinaries is a good enough reason for hormonal/surgical body tinkering.

"A touch of testosterone" for a nonbinary identity.

"The children are leading us....I'm a boy-girl, I'm everything," enthuses Diane Ehrensaft, Director of Mental Health at UCSF's youth gender clinic (and member of Gender Spectrum's board of directors).

The friendly gender doctor looks awfully familiar...as she tells the kid in a singsong voice she can take "medication" so she won't "grow boobs" later. Recommend playing "storytime" read-aloud video (narrator is the book's FTM author Colt Keo-Meier).

How on earth did kids and their parents get by for thousands of years without the good people at Gender Spectrum teaching them how to parse & dice their every childhood behavior into intersecting identities? Minotaurs, Priuses, and "gender smoothies"!

"It's not NOT about gender stereotypes," they all say. But let's make sure to churn out children's books, movies, and "trainings" geared to plant the idea in parents' and kids' heads that gender atypicality COULD mean their bodies are wrong. #WrongBodyism

Director of mental health at UCSF's youth gender clinic and Gender Spectrum board member Diane Ehrensaft has written and spoken many times about this kaleidoscope of genders that somehow no one prior to the Age of the Trans Child discovered--including in autistic children.
Gender Spectrum's YouTube channel features a playlist consisting almost entirely of offerings from "Queer Kid Stuff." QKS produces videos for preschoolers, starring a genderqueer teddy bear who instructs preschoolers in topics like correct pronoun usage.

This Queer Kid Stuff video, featured by Gender Spectrum, has over 62K views so far. We learn that Teddy doesn't "feel like" a boy or a girl, and realizes "I guess my pronoun is they."
QKS has a YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, and Patreon and in addition to videos for very young children, also has a section for preschool educators, with titles like "5 tips for making your classroom queer."

QKS also has vids "Just for Grownups." In "Gender Reveals Stink!" we're told parents shouldn't assume their new baby's sex; "babies can't tell you their gender" so it's all guesswork. "What if your baby ends up being trans or nonbinary!?" Teddy screeches.
While it would be easy to dismiss all this as some sort of fringe group no one pays attention to, Gender Spectrum (which promotes Queer Kid Stuff) recently announced a partnership with former Vice President Joe Biden's foundation.

In a few short years, pediatric gender dysphoria has morphed from a rare mental disorder, treated cautiously in a few specialty clinics, to a happy-clappy cult of identity promoted to toddlers and young kids in media, books, and classrooms by richly-funded organizations.
