Few groups are treated with more icy contempt by the American political elite than the victims of illegal alien crime. They get an even colder shoulder than the people who got screwed by Obamacare.
As I was saying:
All politics is an inherently dishonest and callous game of maximizing perceived benefits and hiding costs. The people who posture as champions of compassion are no less cruel when they play the game. They just convince themselves the people hurt by their policies don't matter.
The game goes into extra innings when it comes to illegal immigration because the open borders crowd is convinced - on the level of religious belief - that they are the sole arbiters of compassion and all opposition stems from ignorant, nativist, racist cruelty.
They CAN'T think about the human cost of their lunatic beliefs. They cannot for an instant contemplate the idea that people are dying as a direct result of their actions to weaken border security and citizenship.
The narrative has to be "enlightened friends of oppressed refugees vs. ignorant racists" or it all falls apart. That means the open borders people have to tell Angel Moms to go to hell. Support for open borders must be thoughtless: all benefit, no cost. Period. /end
Addendum: And here we go again. They have to pretend the Angel Moms don't exist.
