Spent the weekend with a newborn.

Some thoughts on parenting, life and children:
Time.

When you have children, your time gets cut to 10% of what it is now.

If you are single, without kids, be SELFISH about your time. Use it wisely.

Soon, you won’t have it all to yourself.
Fulfillment.

We are the result of an unbroken chain of procreation. We are wired to reproduce and thus find meaning in it.

Ultimately, evolution dictates what is fulfilling and what is not.

It is naive to think you overcome it.
Partners.

Raising a healthy, happy, productive human is HARD.

Picking the right partner for the job is crucial.

Few things are needed for a good upbringing.

The right partner is one.

Don’t rush it.
God.

Like the deep oceans,
the melting fires,
the chilling winds,
the vast mountains,

Awe is the result of seeing God’s creations.

I don’t believe in God as it is commonly defined.

But looking into a newborn’s eyes and you see a glimpse of ‘that’.
