Come with me, for a little journey through Seanan's X-Men Adventure...

I was a child (and she was a child, in our kingdom by the sea) looking for things to fall in love with. So much of childhood is spent, as far as I can tell, looking for things to fall in love with. We're free to latch onto whatever we want. We don't understand permanence yet.

And it was during this period that @flycojoe opened his comic book store, FLYING COLORS AND OTHER COOL STUFF, two blocks down the street from my Aunt Debbie's house.

I was a few years older than my cousins, and often restless. So the adults filled my hands with scavenged quarters and told me to go buy some comic books. I think they assumed I'd come home with Archie or Josie and the Pussycats.

I came home with the X-Men.

(I want to give Joe credit for looking at me and going "this kid carries the seeds of true fannish love, if I steer her toward the X-Men, one day, she'll buy me a boat," but really, I think we just got lucky.)

And oh, how I loved the X-Men. How I loved everything about them, even the things I hated. Most of my early reading was out of order and sporadic, based on whatever was in the quarter box that week, but my love never faltered nor flagged.

As I got older and said that I wanted to be a writer someday, "and I want to write the X-Men" was stated so many times that it might as well have been written on my forehead. It was never a secret. It was always a dream.

Last spring, I got an email from @writeneski asking if I would be interested in writing something for Marvel, and the world stopped for a moment. Literally stopped. I could taste colors and see sounds and I Googled her for five minutes to make sure this wasn't a cruel joke.

And then I wrote my first X-Men comic. X-MEN GOLD ANNUAL #2 (which is now collected in the trade paperback, MARVEL UNIVERSE: TIME AND AGAIN), and if that had been the end of it, I would still have accomplished my dream.

But then @chrisrobinson allowed me to be a part of X-MEN BLACK. And now I'm a part of Age of X-Man. And I'm standing in the sausage factory, seeing exactly how the sausage is made, and it's...it's everything I ever wanted. It really is.

Naturally, being me, this means I want more. Which brings us to THE AMAZING NIGHTCRAWLER.

In the Age of X-Man, everything old is new again, or at the very least altered in some subtle and some startling ways. Kurt Wagner is no different. He's finally living out his cinema dreams, as the biggest movie star in the world.

He has an amazing leading lady, Meggan Puceanu, and a supporting cast that it still makes me giddy to think about. I'm writing the Stepford Cuckoos! ME! I'm putting words in their mouths AND THOSE WORDS ARE AMAZING.

This is a five-issue limited miniseries, and I'm so proud of it, and I'm so happy about what I'm being allowed to do, and I really, really, really hope you'll check it out, because I want so badly to keep being allowed to make sausage with these people.
