Me: Many of these past presidents (and now a current one) were racist as hell.

Them: They were simply men of their time. Most [white] people thought like that then.

Me: But my ancestors then were just as human as I am now. WTH are you saying?!

I forthright admit that I can’t get over the fact that slavery existed in this country, and my ancestors were subjected to it. The fact enraged me. I may well never get over it. And, I’m ok with that.
Read or listen to the Slave Narratives one time, and it makes you insane with anger. At least it does for me as a black man in this country. I am left with the question: How could they? The answer always come back to this: Evil.

Black people, PLEASE don’t fall for this racist trope that one black person’s (or ANY minority’s) actions, good or bad, reflect on the whole. It’s racist to its core. It’s rooted in “credit to your race” conditioning. No person must answer for another’s sin. #JussieSmollett
Also, don’t beat yourself for feeling empathy for someone who said they were a victim. That’s a natural, normal human response. #JussieSmollett
Also, #JussieSmollett didn’t “set race relations back.” We have racists in the White House and millions who support them. “Race relations” were already in shambles.

Al Franken was drummed out if the Senate (and criticized by Trump) after allegations of kissing and groping a woman without her consent.

There was no completed investigation, no hearings, not trial.

Now Trump and those senators stand behind Kavanaugh accused of attempted rape
Although it was Dems who led the charge for Franken to resign, some Repubs joined:

@SenJohnThune on the resignation: "I think that's the right call given kind of what we know."

@SenatorTimScott: Franken needs to “find something else to do."

What say you about Kavanaugh gents?
Susan Collins on Franken and the allegations against him: “I did find the allegations against him to be both credible, disgusting and appalling and degrading to women.” And on Kavanaugh?…

One of my big papers last semester was on the history of neighborhood associations in #Charlottesville, and how their use of zoning laws was an extension of the other exclusionary practices they used to keep their neighborhoods wealthy and white.
I am going to create a very long thread highlighting most of what I found. The details in this are obviously very geographically specific, but it is safe to say that the practices and attitudes underlying it can be found all over the country and in the histories of other cities.
This was supposed to be a map-based racial landscape argument, and towards the end I have several maps and images to show the effects of zoning over time in black and white neighborhoods, because it was a lot of work and it looks cool, haha.

It's already #4thofJuly2018 here in #NewZealand and the #antifa uprising has started. A bunch of them came to my house to take my guns. When I didn't have any they got mad. They took away my wife and made me gay marry an immigrant gang instead. Don't ignore the warnings.
In the street #antifa mobs are pouring biodiesel on piles of flags and using them to like giant scented-oil burners but with drums full of estrogen. I never knew people had so many flags. I guess they were keeping them in hiding. #4thofJuly2018
Instead of the flag we now pledge allegiance the Mann hockey stick climate change graph. We all have to kneel in front of it and sing the anthem five times a day. The anthem now is "Girls & Boys" by Blur but with the words rewritten so it's communism. #antifa #4thofJuly2018

.Every day in twitterverse I watch straight young white people who identify as "progressive" demean and diminish the lives of the marginalized & insist that WE need to recognize that "economic security" is the #1 issue all liberals need to focus on which will then solve all. (1)

I'm writing to white people, because I am one, I get you. Most of us like to think we're not racist. That we're beyond that and stand up for people of colour, denouncing racism when it happens. If that's true, how did we get to this explosion of racism today?
Because it has. Racist hate has exploded everywhere and it's not out of the blue. And it's our fault. All of us white people. Yes, even you. It was a long time coming, a long fuse burning and we just stood back and watched it burn.
