No one said Nigeria started in 1999. We agree that the military destroyed Nigeria, infact they burnt it to ashes. The potent question is what did we do with the money earned from 1999 till 2015 when PDP was it power.

In this same period, Dubai, Abu Dhabi developed from deserts
To world class cities. They built roads, railings, airports and transformed the life of the citizenry. Nigeria on the other hand impoverished us.

Ghana moved on quickly within the same period, Kenya, Qatar, Rwanda..

Rwanda fought the civil war that claimed 1m lives, displaced 2m citizens into Congo. 70% of their population was affected by war. In 1994 Rwanda had a population of 5.8m..

Now they have the best airports, rail transportation and a vibrant economy. What did PDP do?
Most of the infrastructure we still depend on were built by the military. Roads, hospitals, Univeristies, airports, sea ports, refineries..

PDP is a dead case..

This is totally false.

If government didn't kill Nitel, MTN and co wouldn't have made it very quickly. How can you say competition killed Nitel? Nitel had mobile phones as far back as 1990's, NITEL had the backbone infrastructure, they had the assets already in 36 states..
The had GSM license on 0804, they had 450,000 existing customers, they had fixed wireless, they had SAT - 3 already positioned for broadband internet.
Nitel had everything! What was lacking was the will power and operational efficiency to make it function effectively.
There was no competition.

NITEL would have existed side by side with these GSM operators, NITEL 's existence would have created a more viable competitive environment.

Go and read the reports on the privatization of Eleme petrochemical.

The success of Eleme was hampered by the project finance clauses, debts and lack of turnaround maintenance.

The FG absorbed the debts, asked Paris club to write off project finance commitments
As part of the debt forgiveness package..

The FG freed Eleme from debts and absorbed all its liabilities.
"It is interesting to note that the available report on EPCL stated that “the absence of the two-year TAM of the company’s plants and facilities made it impossible for the company to achieve profitability” and “the level of the company’s indebtedness also greatly hampered.

Atiku 'I will sell NNPC ' a man who criticized the FG decision to sell some assets back in 2018. Why is he hell bent on selling NNPC? His cronies are waiting of course. He is the definition of crony capitalism.

He criticized it but all of a sudden his eyes are on NNPC. Old habits die hard, he sold of ALSCON, NITEL..They killed Nigerian Airways because they couldn't get their preferred buyer in the deal.

Glorifying the Abacha era is dangerous, so let me give a practical example.
Remember Bazooka Joe chewing gum?

Consider the price at 50 kobo when Abacha came in 1993. By the end of '93, given the inflation rate, the price was 79 kobo. By '94, it was ₦1.23. End '95, it was ₦2.13, '96 it was ₦2.76, '97, ₦2.99, and in Abacha's final year, it was ₦3.29.
Of course, being #Nigeria, the decimal points would be rounded upwards.

At the end of Abacha's time, Nigeria's GDP per person at today's exchange rate was ₦93,080, meaning that the average Nigerian earned ₦7,756.67 per month, or ₦254.84 per day.

1/ The country’s profile got bleaker this week for a host of reasons - impetuous regulatory behaviour, refugees left out in the cold, a needless rise in public recurrent spending and an unshackled rogue police squad.
2/ Nothing illustrates #Nigeria’s dysfunction as much as the minimum wage palaver. The ₦27,000 ($75) or even ₦30,000 ($83) is not much – those that earn it will hover around the poverty line.
3/ The issue is that even such a wage is beyond the capacity of @AsoRock to pay, and for many small businesses as well, this will represent a massive upswing in cost. There is a disconnect between value creation by the workforce, and how much they earn.

2018 began with some trepidation as #Nigeria's economy failed to take off, and familiar sounds of discontent began to surface.

In the political space, questions mounted about whether the coalition that brought @MBuhari to power 3 years earlier would hold firm.

It didn't.
Meanwhile, the year, 2018, would go down as the year when @AsoRock's claims about having a lid on security issues were revealed to be mostly empty.
The year began with an escalation of #PastoralConflict, with tit-for-tat killings across 5 states, and a tepid reaction from @AsoRock.

This culminated in the unsightly scenario of one of #Nigeria's most prominent citizens asking his tribesmen to defend themselves.
