Another phenomenal letter from a Nashua, NH soldier in the YD. "If I did not use my voice and my strength but stayed at home to let the other fellow do it, would I be worthy of my country and of my friends and of God's goodness?"
A letter from Nashua native Arthur Bouley, from the hospital recovering from "shell shock" from a barrage where his best friend Gene Chagnon was killed, right next to him.

Right. So. Remember the War of 1812? That was a thing, you know. Like, a thing. And then there was the treaty of Ghent which was supposed to solve all the shit that the Treaty of Paris on 1783 hadnt been able to workout, prolly cause John Jay was lit af. But it didn't.
Well, it did solve some of the stuff but it couldn't really figger out that whole border between New Brunswick and Massachusetts. Britain thought the border went way lower, the US thought it went way higher. Predictably, everyone moves into the space in between. Figures

Absolutely speechless.
Peter Jackson and his crew did the due diligence needed for historians to appreciate this film, and I definitely appreciate it. It felt like a gift...after studying and studying the First World War, to suddenly have it presented in such a real way...just unbelievable.
Much like what @marinamaral2 does with colorizing photographs, Peter Jackson has done with "They Shall Not Grow Old. It removes the black and white filter from history and presents it as it was: reality. With people. People like us. And then it doesn't seem so remote.

1) This is a thread I’ve been meaning to write for a while on fashion for academics. This is *NOT* a ‘how you should dress for an interview’ thread, but some thoughts on day-to-day academic sartorial issues. I start with the issues, then move to solutions I favor.
2) The public tip of the academic labor iceberg creates some challenges, because we don’t ordinarily wear business attire, though we aren’t taken seriously in certain situations if we’re too dressed down. I’m generalizing, of course, but I hear about this often from academics.
3) Bc we’re supposed to be ‘experts’ & ‘authorities,’ matters of age & appearance can be extra complicated in academic professional settings. I personally put a lot of thought & emphasis on how I look as I’m often dismissed for looking ‘too young to be a professor’...

Trump is gonna let the Mueller investigation end all on it's own. It's obvious. All the hysteria of the past 2 weeks about his supposed impending firing of Mueller was a distraction. He was never going to fire Mueller and he's not going to now.

Mueller's officially end his investigation all on his own and he's gonna say he found no evidence of Trump campaign/Russian collusion during the 2016 election.

Democrats & DNC Media are going to LITERALLY have nothing coherent to say in response to that.
Mueller's team was 100% partisan.

That's why it's brilliant. NOBODY will be able to claim this team of partisan Democrats didn't go the EXTRA 20 MILES looking for ANY evidence they could find of Trump campaign/Russian collusion during the 2016 election

Jimin wouldn’t allow himself to be trapped on his shift for any longer than necessary.

“Go, go,” Taehyung hurried, taking Jimin’s apron to let him slip out from behind the counter more quickly. Jimin decided he could get the grounds out from under his nails at home.
This morning had been absolute hell. Two girls ordered seven drinks, Jimin made them all only for them to say they were supposed to be with almond milk.

‘Oh I’m so sorry,’ was he all he had legally been allowed to say at the time, while his mind had far more colorful ideas.
With Jimin officially clocked out, he slumped on the customer side of the now empty service counter, looking to his friend with tired eyes.

“You wanna grab dinner later?”
“I can’t, remem—?
“Ah, right...”

Jimin’s disappointment vanished as Taehyung suddenly smiled to himself.

This may be a bit of a long thread. The purpose of the thread is not for me to claim I am a great teacher. It is simply to show that what I preach, I do and it works. We are always asked to show evidence of what we are doing to prove it works. This is all the evidence I need.
Everything I share with you I have asked for permission from the two students to share. I will make up fake names and blur an evidence that will tie back to them. Again I have asked both students and got permission to share our stories.
Every year my 6th grade teachers have their students (we go prek-6) write letters of gratitude to anyone on the staff that they feel thankful for. The notes are hand written. It is an honor to receive them. They are only allowed to choose one person to write them to.
