@ayagaaq @JanlexisR @iamAtheistGirl step 1: you ever see a JW at your door? they bring books. one in particular holds the 'truth' they believe in. some atheists have that too. they don't necessarily argue/discuss in bad faith, they just replace one authority w/another. it's called the dictionary.... /1

@ayagaaq @JanlexisR @iamAtheistGirl and #atheists that point to it, are committing what's known as the genetic fallacy (nothing to do w/DNA or genes).

#2: some atheists insist that religious ppl are bad b/c they support every word of their holy book. this is mistaken as well. you can't very well insist that /2

@ayagaaq @JanlexisR @iamAtheistGirl religious ppl aren't religious if they aren't literalists, since they are *also* accused of being bad or supporting bad shit b/c they're religious. evangelical atheists insist this is so.
3. when i say 'evangelical atheists' it means that there are atheists who evangelize. /3

@ayagaaq @JanlexisR @iamAtheistGirl by all means strive to normalize atheism, just don't evangelize it. you can't be pro 1st amendment and engage in the online harassment so prevalent among atheists. let ppl decide for themselves.
4. don't blame religion for *ALL* the ills of the world - for sure religion /4

@ayagaaq @JanlexisR @iamAtheistGirl or rather, religious ppl, are responsible for some of the worst atrocities ever, but as religious ppl are wont to say, there but for the grace of Bob. it isn't *just* religion that makes ppl do bad things. it's any dogmatic, rigid system of identity formation. which is to /5

@ayagaaq @JanlexisR @iamAtheistGirl say just about *every* ideology. nutcases are nutcases, religion creates plenty, to be sure, but most ppl are easter/xmas types. they don't usu. endorse genocide. recognize that.
