This statement is unusual in a number of ways. It reaches conclusions on a number of legal issues without identifying the facts the secretary relied on to reach them or identifying what process, if any, the State Dept. followed in considering the former Alabama resident’s case. 
Obviously there are a lot of press reports about this situation, but how much of them has the State Dept confirmed and was her ISIS affiliation the basis for this? We can surmise, but Pompeo doesn’t say.
Again no indication from the public statements of officials that there’s been any kind of rigorous fact finding here
Is this person stateless now? How does this example and the publicity the administration is drawing to it affect their advocacy for European states to take captured ISIS fighters?
