The Senate Judiciary Committee has been ramming through judicial nominees at an unprecedented pace. Indeed the Republican-led committee is abdicating its constitutional advise & consent function by failing to fully and properly evaluate nominees. It's actually an outrage.
Nominees have been moved through the process despite having provided misleading or false information on their questionnaires (which they complete under penalty of perjury), omitting key information, or even being found "unqualified" by the non-partisan American Bar Association.
It threatens the integrity and legitimacy of the federal bench when the process is distorted in this way. The "glacial pace of confirmations" is now just a talking point for Republicans who obstructed Obama's appts and who now shamelessly are running the tables w/Trump nominees.
“Not a single confirmation this year” says @hughhewitt. It’s February. Graham became chair on Jan. 15th. On Feb 7th 46 judges were voted out of committee. 46. The whole idea is for the Republicans to act as though they’re in the minority when they comfortably control the Senate.
