How utterly shameful.
If 1000 years of European history has taught us anything, it's that the bandying of stereotypes & slogans targetted at Jews - no matter how virtuous those doing the bandying may fancy themselves - always ends up with scenes like these.
How blessed this country is in its Jewish citizens. Perhaps those of us in Britain who aren't Jewish, and who don't subscribe to sinister conspiracy theories, need to say this as loudly as the cranks rant about 'Rothschilds'?

This is a Yazidi I met in a roasting refugee camp, with his 2 surviving children. He lost 2 daughters (both under the age of 12) to the beds of ISIS rapists, & his 2 elder sons to brainwashers who turned them into killers for the Caliphate.
His wife was also enslaved. She was shot through the head when she tried to escape. She survived but was left brain-damaged. The owner, via intermediaries, sold her back to her husband. While I spoke to him, I could hear her moaning behind a curtain, beating her head on concrete.
Sinjar fell in 2014. This was a year before Shamima Begum went to join ISIS. She knew full well about the fate of Yazidi girls younger than her, because her recruiter boasted about it, and laughed about their suffering. Yazidi slaves were part of the Caliphate's marketing.

This past weekend I went on a big walk. The threads some of you have done of your big walks have given me so much joy, I feel such a need for a bit more joy, that I decided to share some pictures and moments from my walk. Maybe they'll give you a smile this Monday morning.
First challenge was getting out of Wellington after work on a Friday. After a false start, (forgot shoes) and a stop in Paraparaumu (for a sunhat, chapstick and burger) we finally left Otaki Forks at 7.30pm, in a gorgeous golden light.
It's about two hours climb to the lovely, historic Field Hut and light of my headlamp revealed a healthy spider population in them there woods. At Field, a tiny crescent moon and the last glow of the setting sun welcomed us.

I have to say I am encouraged that more WP seem to understand racism. I work w/ a few of them...I cannot but note though, that this increased understanding comes at the time covert & overt racial hostility & racism are at an all time high. That’s the discouraging bit.
Clearly cognitively grasping something does not imply that something will stop happening or reduce. In fact on the basis of the evidence we have, it seems there is a negative correlation, socially at least.
So again the most probable hypotheses are that although more ppl may understand, this understanding is either 1) purely theoritical and/or 2) leads to resistance 3) is insufficient to motivate most to commit to anti-racism & embodying equality.

If history has taught us anything it's that you cannot appease extremists. They will not be placated, it's just seen as weakness. May has tried it with the ERG, but it's been tried throughout history.

2) #Brexit was an oversold idea, based on lies. It's foundations are in division, fear & extreme nationalism. Any possible positives are trivial in comparison. Even for those who say "it's not about immigration" well, it's mostly about immigration.

So there's no good Brexit
3) worse however is the #Brexit we're going to get, anything from a flaccid compromise to a damaging no deal. And the "mob" that McDonnell & others appear to be frightened of will not be satisfied in any event.

1/ I have been a professional investor for over 30 years. What follows is some things I think I know and some things I know I don’t know. Let’s start with some things I know I don’t know.
2/I don’t know how the market will perform this year. I don’t know how the market will perform next year. I don’t know if stocks will be higher or lower in five years. Indeed, even though the probabilities favor a positive outcome, I don’t know if stocks will be higher in 10 yrs.
3/I DO know that, according to Forbes, “since 1945…there have been 77 market drops between 5% and 10%...and 27 corrections between 10% and 20%” I know that market corrections are a feature, not a bug, required to get good long-term performance.
