Whitaker remains a fascinating player here. He clearly was put in office to stymie the Mueller and/or SDNY probes—and as far as we can tell, he did nothing. The answer to "why?" will tell us a lot about where things are headed....
Did Whitaker get fully briefed and realize case was so far along (and damning) there was nothing he could do without opening himself up to obstruction charges?
Or did Whitaker stand strong on his own, out of devotion to justice and rule of law?
Or was Whitaker feeding info back to Trump's team all along or he's compromised the probe in ways we can't see yet?
