The "curse" that happened among 'Poltergeist' (1982) cast members that died due to illness or maybe due of something darker, wanna know the true story read this!👻[A THREAD]:
The most successful film of Poltergeist trilogy directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, scary things began after the pool scene filled with skeletons, it was revealed that they used real human skeletons because it will cost more budget to make fake skeletons.
While shooting 'Poltergeist III' (1988) the 12 years old actor Heather O'Rourke was rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Centre, where she died in the middle of surgery and was mistakenly reported she died of flu, but the actual cause of death was stranger than that.
It was reportedly she died from septic shock during emergency surgery to repair an acute bowel obstruction. She was born with a stenosis of the intestines that was never diagnosed also doctors said she had Crohn’s disease.
According to a lawsuit filed by her parents, her death could have been prevented if she had received the correct diagnosis.
Oliver Robins who played Robbie role has a poster in his room for Superbowl XXII, which not take place for another six years. Heather O'Rourke died in San Diego the day after Superbowl Sunday of 1988 which was played in San Diego as well!
Dominique Dunne who played Dana Freeling in the first movie has her own kind of nightmare. In 1981, she began a relationship with John Sweeney, a chef at a trendy L.A. restaurant and he was a jealousy and abusive man.
The couple had fought and he has beaten up Dunne savagely. Later, she left him and the relationship ended but he still hasn't gave up on chasing her.
According to police reports, before Halloween night of 1982, the chef made a chocolate mask of Dunne’s face and sent it to her. Later serious argument happened where he strangled her into unconsciousness.
Dunne was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center and was placed on life support because her heart has stopped. Doctors also did brain scans that showed she had no brain activity due to
oxygen deprivation.
Dunne was unconsciously fighting between life and death before finally passed away on November 4, 1982 19 days before her 23rd birthday. At the request of her mother, her kidneys and heart were donated to transplant recipients.
Later Sweeney was sent into prison for four years. After out from prison, he changed his name and live his life as a free man ever since.
Heather O'Rourke and Dominique Dunne were buried in the same cemetery at Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
Will Sampson who played the mystical Indian in the movie actually was a real life shaman. On the set performed a Muskogee Indian blessing to clear the set from evil.
Apparently it didn’t work. Heather O’Rourke died years after the event, Sampson himself died due to complications from a kidney transplant.
Julian Beck who played the evil preacher Kane from 'Poltergeist II' (1986) was suffering from stomach cancer during the filming and he died soon after the movie was completed.
Lou Perryman has a small part in the first movie where he played as Pugsley a construction worker. In 2009, the 67 years old actor was chilling at his home in Austin, Texas when Seth Tatum knocked his door.
According to witnesses, the two had a conversation and went inside together. Tatum then left the house alone and later Perryman was found dead in the house.
When police came into his house, they found Perryman's body got hacked apart with an axe. Witnesses also said that Tatum left his house and wandered aimlessly for three miles before knocking on Perryman’s door. He seemed to chose Perryman at random.
So why was he wandering aimlessly for three miles and finally stopped by at Perryman's house after the thousand houses he passed why did he pick Perryman's house and what kind of conversation they had? Were they friends?
Also one cast member escaped the death, Richard Lawson and 50 passengers were on board USAir Flight 405 when it crashed into Flushing Bay in March 1992. 27 people were killed but he survived.
While their deaths may not seem so unusual, some fans still believe their deaths were connected to the curse itself!
There were also haunting events on the 'Poltergeist' set and among the crew and actors had, and here's what 👻:
The scene when Oliver Robins got strangled by the mechanical clown it arms became extremely tight and he started to choke, he screamed that he can't breathe but they thought it was a part of acting until Spielberg saw his face turning purple and he ran to save him.
JoBeth Williams told that when she came home every night after the filming, all the pictures in her home were hang crooked on the wall and when she fixed them back it happened again, and she thought that something was telling her that she shouldn’t be doing the film!
Zelda Rubinstein also had a supernatural experience when a vision of her dog came to her and said goodbye to her. Hours later, her mother called her and told that her dog passed away that day.
James Kahn was writing the novelization of the movie in the building, a lightning striked the building and the air conditioning unit blew off, flew across the room and hit his back and soon the lights flickered and went on, suddenly the video games started playing by themselves!
The Poltergeist series has been the topic that holds there is a "curse" connection, apparently because of the cast deaths.
All of these deaths however only two "unnatural" in any way and it's the death of Dominique Dunne and Lou Perryman, all of the other deaths were due of chronic illnesses.
The main cast members in the first movie JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Tom Skerritt, Nancy Allen and some most are still alive as of 2014.
People believe that the movie was cursed because of the real skeletons were used in the movie yet the scene was only JonBeth Williams in the pool filled with the skeletons so if the "curse" due to that why she's still alive and others who weren't in the pool were all dead?
