.@fams2gether, @ACLU and others are in Mexicali today working to reunify families the administration has separated. Help by calling @CBP now at 1-855-681-1349 and demand that CBP allow parents to apply for asylum—their legal right—so they can be reunited with their children.
A second call you can make right now to help families who want to reunite with their kids:

Call your member of Congress and ask them to put pressure on CBP to grant asylum to parents applying in Mexicali today.

Thank you to everyone who called CBP or their member of Congress this weekend to help a group of families in Mexicali get re-entry to the U.S. This is a huge step forward in getting them reunited with their kids.

The abortion bans in Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Mississippi are appalling attacks on women's lives and fundamental freedoms.

The Trump administration opened a new assault on Americans' health care yesterday by telling a federal appeals court that the entire law should be struck down.

It's a sickening attack on people with pre-existing conditions, seniors, and young people. cnn.com/2019/03/25/pol…
The move is a dramatic escalation on the attacks on Obamacare in the courts, even for the Trump administration. Under Jeff Sessions, the Justice Department had argued some parts of the law could stand. Now, all of the law's protections will be at the mercy of conservative judges.
If Republicans prevail in court:

- 20 million people will lose coverage
- Protections for pre-existing conditions will be gone
- Young people won't be able to stay on their parents' plans until age 26
- Limits on coverage will return
- Caps on out-of-pocket expenses will be gone

Although DHS could take simple steps to improve its record-keeping & avoid inflicting further trauma on migrant families, it has not done so.
Recent reports from multiple parts of the government confirm that DHS has failed to improve its systems to avoid the chaos that ensued last June when it was ordered to reunify families it had already separated--a task it has still failed to complete.

I met Shyla last year in a meeting. Her father had dreamt of making her a doctor. But his dreams drowned in the sewer he had died in. This is her story. (ruralindiaonline.org/articles/my-mo…)
Ten years later, Shyla is almost close to realising her father’s dream. She is doing her nursing course, and she needs help. As a society that sent her father down the sewers, I think it is our responsibility to see that she becomes a nurse.
When I met her again last month, Shyla was exuding confidence. “I will soon be a nurse and if you need anything, call me over” she told me and i cant wait.
Shyla’s course fee for third year comes close to Rs 1 lakh. I already have someone pledging Rs 10,000.

Today I visited an ICE detention facility outside Baltimore with @Call_Me_Dutch.

There we spoke for an hour with two fathers, Carlos and Mario, who had been separated from their children, a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, for months.

What they told us was so disturbing:
We went to this facility in Anne Arundel County to get a sense of what was happening with family separation at the border.

I want to say up front I appreciate the federal and county officials who worked with my staff to arrange this visit, and to @Call_Me_Dutch for welcoming us
With help @CAIRCoalition we identified 2 fathers held there who had been separated from their children and uncertain of their status.

After meeting with ICE and local officials, we spent an hour talking to these fathers, agreeing not to use their full names for their protection.

Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether

1) Ok, I was asked to simplify my explanation of fiat currency. Incoming drunk asshole close enough to be correct explanation of fiat currency. Apologies in advance to the aneurisms I will cause to anyone more familiar with economics.
2) Fiat currency is a currency that is effectively backed by two things. The economic value of the country producing that currency, and the supply of that currency in circulation.
3) A productive prosperous country such as the United States will generate a higher demand for their currency, increasing the value. The central bank for a country will constantly produce that currency for its banks to distribute, lowering the value of it.
