This is such horrific filth
You kind of get used to it after a while. The horrific, racist, quasi-fascistic horror of the man. And then something comes along to remind you just how appalling he is.
This is the shit people tell you to accommodate when they demand you accept the new populism or people's 'legitimate' concerns about immigration.
A message which basically says immigrants are rapists and murderers. It's not even remotely subtle.
You allow that shit to fester without challenging it and it gets worse.
Important to have these moments, so we can see why you never leave any anti-immigrant rhetoric to go unchallenged. You tackle it wherever you see it. This is where it goes. And it gets worse from there.

What exactly is the strategy May and Hunt are pursuing with this 'blame the EU' message?
On what world is it more likely that the EU would shift this weekend in the basis of these comments? None.
The only likely effect is flabbergasted dismay and a hardening against May for trying to cast the blame on them.

The worst thing bar none about writing is when all the notes are there on the page and they have to be put in order before anything can be written.
When it's a major project - book chapters, long-form features - this can take a couple of days. You're doing a lot of the heavy-lifting of the piece without actually getting down to write it.
I hate it. It's the writing equivalent of tidying the house before guests come over.

Some thoughts on the social commentary in 2015's TAG (A Thread)

I first heard about Tag in May 2018. I instantly wanted to see it. I found the first five minutes or so on @Youtube and when the occupants of the 2 buses died, I was hooked. But I couldn't find it anywhere to watch.
Thursday, a friend of mine let me know Tag had come to @netflix and I watched it as soon as I could, which was yesterday. And I absolutely loved it. I loved the #horror of the first two acts. The excessive #gore and #blood. I loved how over the top some scenes were.
When the third act came and things came together, at the time I was blown away. I adored the craziness and how it explained some of the stuff that felt too out of place before. I loved how it went from an all female cast to a mostly male cast and why. Then it happened...

This comment gave me a bit of an epiphany regarding paraphilias. At least, ego-dystonic ones.

I think maybe there’s another way to see them, aside from sexual, and I think viewing them in this light both explains a lot and could give us insight for how to treat them.
Let me preface this by pointing out that I have some personal knowledge of this, having suffered from one from my earliest memories up until I was able to break the compulsion around five years ago.

The specifics don’t matter right now.
If I had to describe what it felt like I would have said that it felt as if I’d been split in two, my personality cleaved down the center and the two halves pulled in wildly different directions.

So Theresa May arrives at EU summit and, like a dream sequence, repeats that "considerable progress" has been made since Salzburg but "problems remain on Northern Ireland backstop".

So what can we say back in the real world? /1
UK Negotiators just spent nine days straight reaching about as far as they can go on #Brexit fudges.

In summary, the EU will NOT give the UK an all-UK customs backstop. But it WILL agree to an all-UK customs arrangement in the future relationship document.

2-Iran’s expansion that @joshrogin wants to “counter” did not start with Syrian war but started in the aftermath of the ill-advised Iraq invasion that opened the pandora box which we are still dealing with today (Birth of ISIS is another ) Interventionists have short memory
3-Syria’s alliance with Iran did not start with the Syrian war. It was cemented after Damascus decided to side with Iran during its war with Saddam’s Iraq in early 80’s. At start of Syrian war, Tehran decided to pay back the favor and came to Assad’s aid when no one did
