This @JaneMayerNYer story confirms what so many people have reported anecdotally, which is that Fox News has turned conservative but formerly reasonable people into fanatics by feeding them a steady diet of fear and outrage--so essentially mind control. newyorker.com/magazine/2019/… 
Incidentally, I've been interviewing cult experts for my new book and several of them have brought up how the dynamic between Fox News and its viewers fits into the mind control/radicalization model, which is incredibly nuanced and extremely misunderstood by the general public.
The problem with this model is that it's actually quite dangerous. Robert Bowers, the Tree of Life shooter, posted on Gab that he had to stop migrant invaders from entering the country and believed the synagogue was assisting this invasion by helping refugees. Sound familiar?
As it turns out, according to this story, one of the people Fox is relying on for information is also a frequent voice on Gab. This is where the world of political propaganda, mind control and violent radicalization bleed into each other, sometimes with dire consequences.
I'm not saying that all Fox News viewers are mass shooters, but people who fit a certain psychological profile are particularly vulnerable to this kind of radicalization, and when Fox News contributors are openly discussing civil war if Trump is impeached, that's scary as hell.
