The best thing about writing a Sarah Zellaby book is the sheer number of Zooey Deschanel gifs I get to use now.
Sarah Zellaby is a cuckoo--more correctly, she's a Johrlac, but no one really calls them that; it's cuckoo, cuckoo, to you--a telepathic ambush predator who may or may not have evolved in another dimension.
She's also a big geek, a mathematician, a huge ketchup fan, hopelessly in love with her (adopted) cousin Artie, and generally pretty easy-going, since it's not easy for cuckoos to make friends. She likes the ones she has.
Wherever cuckoos come from, we know that they're biologically closer to wasps than humans, and have very low dimorphism across the species. They're all very similar-looking, and the girls all look like Zooey Deschanel.
