She's right. Part of the problem is we don't have vision/paths for women to minister *in the church.* By & large, church infrastructure supports male career ministry. What do women have left? The marketplace.

And the marketplace will always prefer consumer-driven messages.
And the reason self-help books sell both in & outside Christian market is b/c we are a culture catechized in self-creation & making something of ourselves. We swim in these waters all the time.
When you look at vast majority of women's Xian books on marketplace, you're looking at what women will buy--not what they need to hear.
This is what happens when women's gifts & voices are shunted to the marketplace. The entire shape of women's ministry changes. We're talking about a kind of critical mass that moves the objectives. christandpopculture.com/persuasion-out…
This isn't to say that good resources don't exist. Or that good writers & teachers only come from w/in the church. It is an explanation for why women's resources often lack a certain robustness & truthfulness.
And as consumerism becomes the standard, it reinforces a narrative about women that is simply false: That they can't handle or don't want better.
