Hausman is the neoliberal economist who went to work for Carlos Andres Perez after Perez’s ruthless austerity spawned the 1989 Caracazo riots. Hundreds of desperate poor and working Venezuelans were gunned down in cold blood during the uprising.

People have been waiting for hours at Simon de Bolívar plaza to sign a declaration opposing US intervention and aggression against Venezuela. Lines stretch for blocks. Maybe some other western media is here but I haven’t seen them. #HandsOffVenezuela
The Venezuelan opposition and western corporate media want to frame a portrait of Maduro and the army against “the people.” That’s absolutely not what I saw today, where thousands were lining up for blocks all day to sign an open letter to Americans opposing US intervention.

and applying complex algorithms based on social behavioral patterns.
The show enforced so many dubious cliches though.

It kind of enforced the notion that any movement came be forced by social media influence.

Is this because people need to fear social media and NOT regard it as a means of individuals combining to otherthrow oppression?
The characters who were supposed to represent the different attitudes towards Brexit made Eastenders characters look overly complex.

The way that they depict people trawling billions of social media accounts, millions of which are fake bot accounts themselves is hilarious.

1/ #Brexit was the howl of the left behind. Those abandoned by Neo-Liberalism. Abandoned by every Govt since 1979. Those who had seen their jobs taken abroad. Their communities dying. Left to rot on low wages. Low skill and insecure work.
2/ Not listened to. Then punished further, through #Austerity and benefit cuts, whilst the elite just got richer. Tax was evaded and profits hoovered up by the bosses. Wealth for the few. The very few. Brexit was NOT about the far right. Jacob Rees Mogg, or the ERG.
3/ It was two fingers to the establishment.

So when David Milliband, who did nothing in Govt to change any of the above (Oh yes Sure Start Centres, sorry) tells us the few will be better off in the EU and millionaire celebrities line up to tell Leavers they are wrong.

Did #Austerity Cause #Brexit? I have received some comments on the paper that have engaged with the data, but am more than happy to stand my ground. Here is why...
Recently, Noah Carl @NuffieldCollege studied national level opinion poll time series, arguing that the lack of evidence of an uptick in post 2010 support for Leave is evidence suggesting that austerity had nothing to do with #Brexit. See his comment here osf.io/zbgt3/
So what are the problems with this approach.
1) Opinion polls do not rely on the same sampling population, so a lot of time variation that is so crucial given the tight referendum results are well within the margins of error

Don’t let the media and entertainment industries confuse you; representation in media is important, but many seem oblivious to the fact that Black Americans make up around 12.6% of the American population.

Indigenous peoples make up around 1% of the American population!
The oppression that Black and Indigenous Americans experience on a daily basis is STILL incredibly disproportionate to the struggles of other ethnic groups within this country, and this is precisely why the poor and working class struggle depends upon our involvement!
