Tweeting from Senate Ethics committee hearing #HB316. The most depressing legislative "process" that I have ever experienced. @kirkpatrickdk , chair ( R ), picked the speakers today for the Proponents and the Opponents. Not permitting any credentialed experts for Opponents. 1/
2/ Sponsor @flemingbarrya is making so many dishonest statements including claiming that no time limits were imposed on witnesses and that all people who wanted to speak could. Claims that touchscreens are 100% accurate---never mind the research.
3/ Chair announced that she has a substitute bill but she has not distributed it. They will be voting on a very complex bill that that the public has not seen.
3/ Dems did not offer any amendments to remove authority for BMDs although they are un-auditable.
4/ At least it sounds like they are going to remove the ridiculous internet voting pilot program for disabled voters.
5/ Rep. @flemingbarrya says that "audits are ALL important." HA!! but he is insisting on an unauditable system.
I had suggested that they delete the entire audit provision b/c it is sham and a hoax on the people. It cannot be audited.

6/ Witness Favorito (called by the Chair) claims that the BMD has 10 year life. They will be lucky to have a life a 3 yrs. This technology will be obsolete when people finally understand that these systems are not auditable.
7/Favorito is promoting different types of BMDs that are not auditable. 😡
8/ Sen. Brian Strickland claiming that audits can be done with BMDs because they will offer the voter a chance to see a full ballot at the scanner. Geez!

10/ Former Sec. Cathy Cox just making it up re: claims about optical scanners. It is just amazing that this crap is used to make important decisions.

14/ Sadly @sallyharrellga attempts to amend to use different kind of BMDs, but it loses. Just as well, wasn't really an improvement.

16. SOS office recommending that no forensic review of the programming of the voting machines be permitted . Totally LYING about the effectiveness of testing.
17. All amendments from Dems are being defeated on party lines.
