As Manafort gets sentenced today, don’t forget. Trump feels “very badly” for his former campaign manager & “his wonderful family” & praised him for refusing to “break.” Also called his treatment “unfair” & praised his service to other past presidents.
Trump also called Manafort a “brave man” and assailed the practice of pretrial detention as “tough” when he had his bail revoked before his trial began for egregious violations of release conditions, including tampering with witnesses.
Trump only cares about “law & order” & the crushing power of punishment if you’re black or brown. If you’re white, privileged, & better yet, a friend or family member of his, criminal law is an inconvenience, an injustice, an impediment to happiness, wealth, & success.
