Of course if we look at every movie that's been review bombed on Rotten Tomatoes in the last 10 years, they're all movies with female or POC leads, soooooooooooo.....
The reality is that the stupid RT thing comes down to a Venn diagram of alt-right, The Men Who Hate Women™ and (yes this is real) toxic DC uber fans who believe film critics are paid off by Disney to give DC films bad reviews.
Wonder Woman isn't targeted because it's needed to prop up the narrative that Disney is the enemy.
Alita isn't targeted because it was made into a prop to attack Captain Marvel with.

This is also why they've gone after every Star Wars movie too.... except Solo. Y'know, the only Star Wars movie that didn't have a female or POC lead.
And the ONLY people who think they can point at the audience scores for another female lead film and think that provides any kind of explanation or cover are the people engaged in this stupid culture war looking for cover.
Basically at this point if Disney releases any big genre live action movie that features a female or POC lead, these assholes are going to organize a culture jamming campaign against it.
And the only reason any of this matters is because Rotten Tomatoes is owned by Fandango and these scores follow a movie across the internet and are displayed during ticket sales. 
If I just go to the main page and sort by audience score, Captain Marvel is already 3rd last despite having just come out in early screenings.
Now fortunately Marvel movies are critic and score proof. They don't even need to do trailers for these films to pack the theater. I'm not concerned this will affect CM. But it can be effective for driving audiences away from other films.
And as much as I've love to say mainstream audiences are savvy enough and will ignore obviously review bombed scores... they're not. I've watched people be fooled into thinking cheap Asylum knock off movies are the genuine article.
