From his wheelchair, Manafort reiterates his shame, which he mentioned in court last week, but adds an explicit apology.

Manafort says the support of friends and family have "had an energizing impact on my life," adding that he is a "different person from the one who came before you" in the fall of 2017.

Manafort says he takes responsibility for his actions.

"I pledge do to all I can to accelerate the healing process."

Manafort says the case has taken everything from him -- his cash, his properties, his trust accounts for his children.

Manafort asks that the judge not take him from his wife.

"I ask that you find compassion in your sentencing."
