Reporters, you would do us—the public—a very big solid by reaching out to your executive contacts @Facebook and @Google/@YouTube right now and asking them whether or not they plan to continue broadcasting the actual murder of human beings in real time and without any oversight.

Reprehensible that @Facebook & @YouTube are apparently too busy monetizing content to do even the bare minimum of oversight on it. Contracting it out isn't working and neither are the endless excuses. GROW UP already and take responsibility for what you have created.

Your creations, by the way, are not neutral tools or benign platforms—@Facebook & @YouTube—they are media outlets with massive audiences. Just as TV networks owe their audiences due diligence on what they put out there, you do too. Start acting like adults.

In the age of state sponsored election hacking, organized trolling, mass disseminated conspiracy theory, and livestreaming of mass murder, the tech industry's consistently begrudging efforts to enact even basic ethical guardrails around content represents a FEAT of neglect.
