I implore you to *please* take the time to read this short thread.

1. Before you say anything about the massacre that took place last night, I want you to think about the killer. What kind of response did he want? Did he want to see the world erupt in divisive fury, or in love?

2. The killer would never live to see the aftermath, the grand accomplishment of his actions. Yet, do you have any doubt that he felt confident as to what he could achieve upon his death? Why? Because he saw what happened the last time, and the time before that, and so on.

3. Our reaction to this atrocity is our demonstration to the next would-be mass murderer of what effect he will achieve. It is our promise to him. And he will extrapolate from the trajectory of our reactions, and he’ll relish the acceleration of social destruction he can achieve.

4. Do not say or do anything to embolden or encourage the next killer.

Do not use this tragedy to support your politics.

Do not use this tragedy to support your ideologies.

Do not use this tragedy to score points.

And do not use this tragedy to accuse anyone, of anything.

5. The next mass-murderer is already out there. He is watching our reaction intently. It’s time to take a stand and show him what he can expect if he follows in similar footsteps to this coward.

Show him that we will stand united.

6. Show him that we will not make him famous.

We will make the victims and their communities famous. Because they are he only ones that matter at this point. And we will shower them with affection, love, and support. And he will have died in vain, and we will stand undivided.
