This is absolutely right. The DUP has upped its price today by hinting a deal is close, without any evidence they have moved on the backstop. More cynicism needed....
The human reaction at this point is for government to throw literal actual billions at the DUP
PS if billions more is agreed for NI by the DUP, it wont be announced simultaneously, so the DUP can claim they have backed down on substance.

What *might* tip the dynamic is if a hardcore of brexiteers thought voting in Corbyn lobby was the only way of stopping a 2 year delay to brexit date

But we’re not at the point where this is the “only” way yet, and it’s not clear if and when this will happen
It’s probably the case that a large chunk of brexiteers would rather have a lengthy delay (and everything that goes with that - May’s daily degradation in such a scenario) than take this deal. Based on public Tory comments, a long delay v unstable
