Just published: My look at how Georgia GOP lawmakers embraced numerous falsehoods in approving ballot-marking devices last week. subscriber.politicopro.com/cybersecurity/…

Feat. cyber experts @richde and @philipbstark, plus @sallyharrellga and @elenaparent on their colleagues' discredited claims,
The lawmakers who I heard making false statements on the GA Senate floor — @williamligon, @dolezal4senate, and @pkmartiniv — did not respond when I asked them about those statements, which covered optical scanner sophistication and the relative hackability of different machines.
I did speak to @kirkpatrickdk, who chairs the relevant Senate committee.

I pointed out that hacked BMDs could corrupt the paper ballots.

“Do you not think that voters have some responsibility to review [ballots]?” she asked. “I mean, these are adults we’re talking about."
She also cited the SAT cheating component of the recent college admissions scandal as evidence that paper ballots were insecure, though she didn't explain what she meant.
There's a lot more in my story about how Georgia Republicans handled the BMD bill.

"They concealed relevant information and refused to recognize independent witnesses who could offer objective testimony and analysis," Georgia Tech's Rich DeMillo told me.
