I think Biden announcing Stacey Abrams as his VP way ahead of time would be a good idea, on balance, for Joe Biden.

Not discussed in the chat, but I kinda like a one-term pledge too! (A significantly less complicated option than naming your VP in advance.) People on here are like, "it draws too much attention to his age." You think the 20 other candidates AREN'T going to draw attention to it?
The 1-term pledge isn't just about age, either. It also sends a wartime/peacetime message, i.e. Biden sees the Trump presidency as an emergency and you need someone experienced to take over to right the ship. BUT someone else may be better long-term once the emergency is quelled.
Last thing on this: Biden and all the other candidates **should be taking risks**. Nobody has more than a 20-25% chance of winning the nomination. There's no prize for finishing in 2nd. Strategies that increase your variance will generally increase your chances of the nomination.
