2/9 Since January 2019 dozens of articles against abortion suddenly popped up in various online media that are known for their EU-skeptic and pro-Kremlin positions. This follows a year of vehement reaction against the advancement of women's rights in Bulgaria.
3/9 In 2018 large scaled campaign attacked the attempt of ratification of @coe's #IstanbulConvention against domestic and gender-based violence. The campaign ended with success when the Constitutional Court held that the convention promotes unconstitutional 'gender-ideology.'
4/9 Alexander Urumov and many other agents of the former totalitarian secret service spoke publicly against the ratification of the Convention and about the existence of 'gender-ideology' that aims to make biological sex void.
5/9 These conservative reactionaries were heavily backed by VMRO-BND, one of the fascist parties in the government (called that way by @ECRI_CoE), and surprisingly by falsely accused of being socialists @BSP_Bulgaria - leaders of parliamentarian opposition, members of @PES_PSE .
6/9 In April @EPF_SRR came out with a shocking report on #AgendaEurope - an international network of conservative reactionaries tied to the Catholic church, the US-based Alliance Defending Freedom, and Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev. Report is here: epfweb.org/node/690
7/9 According to @EPF_SRR's report #AgendaEurope is secretive network aiming at repealing laws allowing divorce, prohibiting abortion and sale of all pharmaceutical contraceptives, the abolition of all equality legislation, the reintroduction of anti-sodomy laws, etc. globally.
8/9 @EPF_SRR's report reveals how heavily financed #AgendaEurope's activities are linked to anti-abortion initiatives in Poland in Spain and with opposition against #IstanbulConvention in Bulgaria.
