1/ It’s clear from this article that the Conservative Party is failing in cases of Islamophobia - some egregious cases where expulsion was the only reasonable option but suspensions applied instead. E.g. theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
2/ There are two good suggestions in the article: (1) for the party to publish its disciplinary process so that there can be outside scrutiny (no-brainer) and (2) @miqdaad’s call for an independent inquiry, which I have said before is the right way forward
@miqdaad 3/ The party must get ahead of the issue especially after Christchurch. As the party of government it has a huge responsibility to understand and fight Islamophobia and that starts in its own ranks
Nb the cases mentioned would lead to sacking from jobs. Why is politics different?
