1/ A parable on the efficiency of markets: An entrepreneur and an economist are walking along a side street in Manhattan.
2/ The entrepreneur looks ahead, squints, and then says delightedly: “Well, I’ll be darned! It’s a $100 bill, right here in the street! I'll split it with you!"
3/ The economist shakes his head and tut-tuts: “No, I’m sorry. That’s impossible. In equilibrium there could never a $100 bill on the street. Someone would pick it up.”
4/ The entrepreneur shrugs, and mutters, “Okay, suit yourself!” and pockets the bill.
5/ The economist looks around, and then points at the ground and yells, triumphantly: “See! SEE! I told you! There is no $100 bill.”
