The "pençik" or "penç-yek" tax, meaning "one fifth", was a taxation based on a verse of the Quran; whereby one fifth of the spoils of war belonged to God, to Muhammad and his family, to orphans, to those in need and to travelers.
NOTE: This eventually included slaves and war captives were given to soldiers and officers to help motivate their participation in wars.

The trans-Atlantic slave trade was different from Islamic slavery on rights. Under Islam, slaves had some rights, and if they converted more rights. This was not the case with the trans-Atlantic slave trade. You were a slave for life, as were your children.

White Supremacy was crueler because it used religion & scientific-racism as justification for enslaving blacks forever --- their progeny with no end in sight. There was no hope. To be born black meant you were doomed.
This is an important differentiator: white supremacy made being born black kind of like two things, soulless, on par with something like an inanimate object -- like a rock or a chair or an accident of evolution.
